Celebrating Welsh Blacks
Posted on September 7 at 8:32PM.

The Australian Welsh Black Cattle Society is very proud that the breed has been selected, for the first time in the Show's history, as the feature breed for this year's Royal Melbourne Show.  In the farming world, this is a great honour and marks the graduation of the Welsh Black breed to the top echelons of Australian cattle breeding.

The Welsh Black marketability satisfies today's demand at every level, with a totally traditional product.  Ideal temperament, tough, fertile bulls, vigorous breeding and mothering ability along with excellent carcase traits have led to breeders receiving huge interest from the national media, the consumer and cattle breeders in particular.

We are looking forward to presenting this magnificent Welsh breed in all its glory, set against the backdrop of the new state-of-the-art agricultural pavilion at the Royal Melbourne Show.  We are very fortunate to have Mrs Carmel Allan, a renowned international cattle judge and Welsh Black breeder from the United Kingdom, to judge the Welsh Black cattle at the Show.  Mrs Allan was recommended by the CEO of the Welsh Black Cattle Society (Wales) and is being sponsored by the RAS.

Wales and Welsh culture will be truly celebrated at the Royal Melbourne Show this year - we will also have a series of musical interludes with a contingent from the Melbourne Welsh Male Voice Choir.

Judging times as follows:
